Scott is profoundly dyslexic but has achieved great success through gaining a degree at university. He wants to encourage every dyslexic to strive to achieve their goals. He is keen to get behind the BDA with his support to enable it to raise awareness of dyslexia and support dyslexic people.

Scott is running in the BUPA London 10K run, the Midland 13.5K run and then together with his brother Ian attempting the 3 Peaks Challenge in June 2008.

Scott has set himself a target of completing the challenge in 24 hours. His fundraising target is £3,000. Please give your support to Scott in his amazing efforts to support the BDA.

Walsall Pacemakers Prepare for 3 Peaks

The Walsall Pacemakers’ preparation for the 3 Peaks Challenge, where they will walk the three highest mountains of England, Scotland and Wales in 24 hours for the British Dyslexia Association, is gaining pace at lightening speed with almost 30 sponsors to date.

The group of 30 walkers, led by Ian Henery, will climb the 3 Peaks, Scar Fell Pike, Snowdon and Ben Nevis, eating only Chinese food this June to raise money for the BDA.

The Pacemakers have managed to get nearly 30 corporate sponsors to back their efforts, including the Grosvenor Casino in Birmingham, Group 4 Securicor, numerous Chinese restaurants and several other local businesses. They have also had huge support from local media around the West Midlands, including Radio WM in Birmingham and the Birmingham Mail.
To sponsor the “Walsall Pacemakers” contact Ian Henery on 01902 366615 or send a cheque made payable to the BDA to Unit 8 Bracknell Beeches, Old Bracknell Lane, Bracknell, RG12 7BW.

You too can raise money for the BDA

There are a number of ways you can raise money for the BDA.

  • Give as you earn

With Give As You Earn – the UK’s largest payroll giving scheme – you can give directly from your pre-tax salary, so money that would normally go to the taxman goes to charity instead.

You just decide how much you want to give each month, then your donation comes out of your pay packet.

To join Give As You Earn, your employer will need to be running a scheme. Click here for more details.

  • Have fun and raise money

  • Money can be raised for the BDA in different ways. People have run the London Marathon, others have taken part in a parachute jump and some have held a jumble sale.

If you are involved in an event, big or small, all donations help support the work we do.

Just Giving is a website that lets you collect sponsorship money online, enabling you to concentrate on the event and not have to worry about chasing donations. For details click here.

  • Be a tax wise saver

  • By leaving a legacy to the BDA, underpins the work we do and enables us to plan and develop new projects. When writing your will or adding a codicil, please include details of the legacy. For this you will need the BDA's charity number: 289243.

This is the most tax efficient way of distributing your estate.

    Thank you!
